United Methodist Youth Home is seeking reliable individual’s of the community to serve on one of our committees. We are very passionate about the community helping assist us with our movement and we believe this is the perfect way for you to be more involved with us! Below is the descriptions and skills wanted for our two committees, Internal Affairs and External Affairs. Internal Affairs Committee
The Internal Affairs Committee shall:
Make policy recommendations to the Board of Directs, which reflect the mission of UMYH.
Reviewing personnel policies on an annual basis.
Assisting the Executive Director in ensuring that the agency remains in compliance with the regulations of the State Agencies to whom it is responsible.
Advises the Executive Director on personnel matters.
Review and oversight of the agency’s financials, including:
Review of financial reports.
Preparation and oversight of the annual budget.
Performance of an annual financial audit.
Approval of capital expenditures over $2,000 in advertisement of facility upgrades.
Monitors program effectiveness.
The Internal Affairs Committee meets at least every 4-6 weeks.
The Internal Affairs Committee will have a Chair of the committee, who is a member of the Board of Directors.
Staff members of the committee are to include the Executive Director and Programming Director.
Professional and Personal Skills Desired for this Committee:
Understanding of financial statements.
Follow through on communications with fellow committee members.
Experience in the mental health field.
Experience in the human resources field.
Experience in the Warrick County or Vanderburgh County School Corporation.
External Affairs Committee
The External Affairs Committee Shall be responsible for:
Oversight and support of the agency’s annual Development Plan.
Ensuring UMYH has financial resources in place to fulfill its mission.
Developing and implementing strategies to strengthen ties between UMYH and the community.
Advise the Board concerning development work in the community.
Help ensure effective coordination of specific funding categories.
Help develop resources in relation to fundraising events promotion.
Help market volunteer and fund opportunities to the community.
Recommend strategic relationships that will help further fundraising strategies.
Develop and advise quarterly goals in fundraising and marketing.
The External Affairs Committee meets at least every 4-6 weeks.
The External Affairs Committee will have a Chair of the committee, who is a member of the Board of Directors.
Staff members of the committee are to include the Executive Director and the Development Officer.
Professional and Personal Skills Desired for the Committee:
Experience in fund development.
Experience in fundraising.
Experience in marketing/advertising.
Capacity to bring in new donors.
Follow through on communication with fellow committee members.
