Students Helping Students

It has been a joy to partner with University of Southern Indiana (USI) nursing students this semester! Through their service-learning projects, these future healthcare professionals are helping our youth bridge the gap between mental health and physical activity.

Just yesterday, we welcomed a fresh cohort of second-semester students to UMYH. They spent the day getting a feel for our culture and mission, preparing to dive into their own upcoming projects.

They have big shoes to fill! Reflecting on the impact of our previous volunteer group, UMYH Wellness Coordinator Deshay Melton shared:

“The girls’ group made bead bracelets together over a friendly discussion. [The students] had the boys running relay races after answering questions about what they’d learned. Good times!”

We are so grateful to the USI nursing program for their commitment to our students’ health and fitness. The momentum is staying strong—the next group is already brainstorming ways to tackle topics like nutrition and hygiene in creative, hands-on ways.
