Summer might be winding down, but the energy at United Methodist Youth Home (UMYH) is just getting started as we gear up for a new school year!
For our Day Education students, the hard work has been happening all summer. Many of them are focused on a big goal: testing for their high school equivalency. They’re putting in the effort and getting closer to the finish line every day.
Meanwhile, our residents and some of our Truancy students have officially headed back to their regular schools. We’re so proud of them for taking on this new challenge. To make sure they’re prepared, we were incredibly fortunate to receive donations from some wonderful community partners.
A huge thank you goes out to Fort Branch First UMC & Blythe Chapel UMC for donating backpacks filled with school supplies. These backpacks went to our youth attending traditional school, and we were even able to give some of our youth’s siblings and aftercare youth! It’s amazing to see our community support not just our students, but their families too.
We also want to thank Centenary UMC and Walnut Grove UMC for donating a wide variety of school supplies that will be used by all of our students. These supplies will be a big help for everyone as they continue their educational journey.
We are so grateful for the generosity of our community partners. Their support helps us provide our youth with the tools they need to succeed, whether they are working toward their high school equivalency or starting a new year at school.
Here’s to a successful school year for everyone!
