RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR | Work Location: Evansville, IN | Part-time

Are you passionate about caring for and guiding young people? Do you want to empower youth to overcome the serious traumas they have faced and teach them skills to live independently?

A Residential Counselor provides support and supervision of our youth throughout the course of all daily programming activities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Being a positive role model.
  • Using individualized strategies identified in the clinical staffing.
  • Maintaining healthy boundaries with the youth.
  • Maintaining standards of orderliness and cleanliness according to state inspection criteria, UMYH standards, and state law.
  • Helping the youth achieve their treatment goals.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation.
  • Accurately record all medications administered.
  • Follow the daily schedule and continuously supervise, monitor, and participate in daily activities.

 

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • 21 Years of Age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to attend weekly Monday 9-10:30 am and monthly Wednesday 9-11am meetings. 

Experience working with youth, a behavioral health, or residential facility a plus. Pay commensurate with education and experience.  

Job Type: Part-time second shift available.

Pay: Up to $20.00 per hour based on education.

INDEPENDENT LIVING INSTRUCTOR | Work Location: Evansville, IN | FULL-time

Primary Responsibilities

The individual in this role will be responsible for:

1. Help to ensure that we are providing the best treatment for the youth that we serve.

2. Contribute to the Residential Treatment Program and the Day Treatment Program by: Attending and participating in Treatment Team meetings as necessary.

3. Assist youth in strengthening age-appropriate skills in areas such as:

  • Health
  • Education
  • Life skills
  • Social skills
  • Employment
  • Housing
  • Community Service Projects

4. Assist youth in obtaining resources such as:

  • Securing a photo ID, social security card, and birth certificate.
  • Finding appropriate employment.
  • Opening a savings account.
  • Completing federal and state taxes.
  • Finding an apartment.
  • Researching advanced educational opportunities, college tours, applying for college, and applying for financial assistance.
  • Enrolling in Medicaid, if resident is over age of 17 ½.

5. Conducting and documenting Independent Living Group with Day Treatment a and more frequently as needed.

6. Ensuring that youth under the age of 16 will receive at least one weekly individual session with the IL Instructor.

7. Ensuring that Residential youth ages 16 and over will receive a of IL Instruction.

  • 75% of the 3 hours of IL instruction will be experiential instruction, not utilizing a classroom or worksheet.
  • A portion of the 3 hours of instruction will be in the community outside of UMYH’s campus.

8. All IL instruction to youth will be documented by the IL Instructor.

9. Completing the IARCA Follow-Up Form of every discharged Day Treatment youth.

10. Support youth in the Day Treatment program with obtaining their HSE, as needed

  • Educate youth on the various certifications offered
  • Assist the youth in the enrollment process for college

11. Ensure that residents complete all assigned community service hours.

12. Teaching each resident to plan a meal, budget and shop for the ingredients, and prepare the meal for their program (Residential youth).

13. Provide After Care in the following Areas to all youth at UMYH, as needed and assist them in the following areas:

  • Proper hygiene
  • Meal preparation
  • Home management
  • Health care
  • Transportation
  • Employment
  • Budgeting/Money Management
  • Higher education/Vincennes University Certificate Program
  • Career exploration
  • Knowledge of various community resources

14. Refer students to community or other resources as appropriate.

15. Be familiar with all UMYH policies and procedures for the Residential Treatment Program and the Day Treatment Program.

Working Conditions

  • Sessions in the offices and group homes with varying temperatures.
  • Includes travel by automobile throughout Indiana.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Significant interaction with troubled youth, disoriented or agitated residents, and/or family members who need to be calmed.

Job Standards:

Candidate must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license. They must possess a Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field. Experience in a related field of working with at risk youth is preferred. Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and TB test, along with background checks including DCS, criminal, sex offender, and fingerprints.

Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • Capable of working independently and as a team member.
  • Maintain a non-discriminatory policy in all areas of practice regardless of race, color, age, religion, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, physical handicap, political belief or veteran status.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks so that all deadlines are met.
  • Ability to juggle a caseload of up to 15 residents simultaneously, prioritizing, and delegating appropriately based on caseload, administrative duties, and residents’ needs.
  • Reading and reasoning skills necessary to understand information in resident records as required to review and participate in the client(s) treatment plans.
  • Reading, writing, and clinical skills necessary to understand intake information and to write treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries.
  • Communication skills necessary to work with various populations including at-risk youth, parents, and other professionals.
  • Familiarity with various resources in the community.

Director of Development | Work Location: Evansville, IN | Full-time

Responsibilities and Duties

The United Methodist Youth Home seeks a full-time Director of Development. This position will be in charge of overseeing the development team comprised of dedicated professionals. Aspects of the job include oversight of all the organization’s fundraising and awareness efforts, as well as managing relationships with the community. Essential functions and core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Operating Responsibilities

  • Work with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to determine the vision for the department.
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the organization.
  • Create & Maintain Annual Fundraising Plan, setting goals and plans for the department and team.
  • Collaborate with the Development Team in both fund development and donor cultivation, including researching potential donors/community partners, making requests for support, maintaining stewardship of relationships, and acknowledging gift(s)
  • Create and manage special events including, but not limited to fundraising, awareness, and groundbreaking events
  • Manage all external communication channels including, but not limited to grants, website and social media, and advocacy efforts
  • Maintain and oversee Bloomerang Donor Database reporting and financial tracking

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Development Team to create and execute greater fundraising and outreach possibilities
  • Support the Development team in giving presentations at community events, churches, and local business venues as needed. 
  • Supervise and oversee all Development Team members such as the Grants Manager, Development Officer, and Development Assistant
  • Attend and participate in the following:
    • Leadership Team
    • External Affairs
    • Board Meetings

FACILITIES & GROUNDS TECHNICIAN | Work Location: Evansville, IN | Full-time or Part-time

A Facilities & Grounds Technician maintains the campus grounds and equipment, residential facilities, and administrative building. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • General maintenance, repair, replacement and up-keep of the campus, buildings and vehicles.
  • Weekly inspections of all buildings, grounds and vehicles.
  • Maintenance of lawn and landscaping
  • Scheduling of routine vehicle maintenance.

 

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • High School diploma.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a motor vehicle check. Ownership of pick-up truck helpful.
  • Flexibility in scheduling work hours.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and TB Test
  • Pass a criminal background check, Child Protective Services check and National Sex and Violent Offenders Registry check.

Experience working in facility maintenance in a educational or residential facility a plus. Pay commensurate with experience.  

Job Type: Full Time or Part Time Days.

Pay: Up to $21.00-$25.00 per hour based on experience
