UMYH is proud to recognize Shari Hooker as our September Staff of the Month! Shari is one of the many team members who works behind the scenes to help keep UMYH running smoothly — unless, of course, she is filling in at the front desk!
Shari has been a valued part of the UMYH team since October 2023, serving as our Accounting and HR Manager. Her role involves a little bit of everything, from bookkeeping and keeping track of accounts to overseeing her team and helping with the many responsibilities that keep our organization moving forward. While her work may not always be visible, it is an essential part of what makes UMYH successful.
Beyond her responsibilities, Shari brings a wonderful energy to the workplace. Her coworkers describe her as diligent, funny, and genuine, and those qualities are easy to see in everything she does. She comes to work ready to get the job done, but she also knows how to make the office a fun place to be. Whether she is making a witty comment, sharing a laugh, or even dancing for a video, Shari brings plenty of personality to the team.
Shari has also served as a supervisor throughout her entire time at UMYH. When we asked her team about her, they had nothing but positive things to say. They shared that Shari is always willing to listen, offer help, and encourage them to develop their skills. She creates an environment where her team feels supported and knows they have someone they can turn to. Her ability to lead while also making others feel valued is one of the many reasons she is such an important part of our team.
Outside of UMYH, Shari enjoys spending time with her family. She is a proud mother and grandmother and loves traveling, doing puzzles and crosswords, and making memories with the people she loves.
Shari may spend much of her time behind the scenes, but her impact is felt throughout UMYH. Her dedication, leadership, humor, and willingness to help others make a difference every day.
